Description
The Sandford House (The Fayetteville Women�s Club)
Built in 1797 by Duncan McLeran
Sold in 1820 to the Bank of the United States (first federal bank in NC.)
In 1832 the bank sold the house to one of its cashier, John Sandford.
In March 1865 the house was used as a barracks for Union troops under Gen. Sherman.
Since 1945 the Women�s Club has owned and maintained the house.
Listed in National Register - February 6, 1973.
